Introduction to I/O Control

The Screwdriver can be controlled and monitored by standard digital I/O, if this is enabled on the SpinBridge. The I/O variant of the SpinBridge has 8 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs. The digital inputs can be used to control the screwdriver. The digital outputs can be used to monitor the screwdriver.

The basic steps to I/O Control are as follows:

  • Enable I/O control by setting DI8 high.

  • The system is ready when the DO1 is high.

  • Select the desired action, by setting the DI 1-5 to the desired value.

  • Start the action by setting DI6 high.

  • If the action is to start a screw program, the screwdriver will start and the DO4 (OK), DO5 (Not OK) or DO6 (Fault) will go high when the screwdriver is done.

The subsequent sections will cover the details of how to how to control the screwdriver by running configurable actions mapped to the digital inputs.
